They have the classic variants of ramen including miso, shouyu, and butter but also less common ones such as vegetable and fish. The meat has been somewhat tough the few times I've eaten here. The building itself is spacious and always seems to be busy and the staff are friendly. Unfortunately they are typically only open for lunch.

2025.12.27. First time at Rairaiken in decades. I went to the shop next door on an errand and smelled something amazing, so I couldn't help dropping in. I had the miso ramen, which seemed to be the source of that great smell. My wife had the salt ramen. Both were delicious. I feel like I missed out during the decades I didn't come (lol). I'll keep coming back to make up for those decades. Thanks for the meal.

Oops, I hadn't written a review for the long-established Rairaiken. It's a quintessential miso ramen shop in the lineage of Sapporo miso ramen! I had the miso chashu-men (the classic) The thick chashu gives you the satisfaction of really eating meat, and the bean sprouts, napa cabbage, onions, and thick menma combine with the sweetish miso soup, wrapping around the yellow noodles that just slide down your throat. It was a delicious bowl! Thanks for the meal~m(_ _)m

・20250413 ⚫︎Shoyu ramen ⚫︎Miso ramen It was pretty crowded, so I waited a few minutes. I wanted to have gyoza too, but they said they couldn't serve it because it was busy. Too bad! ⚫︎The chashu is superb! It's a thigh-meat type chashu, and it's sooo tender!! It's not the fall-apart type, but this tenderness with the flavor soaked all the way through is moving♪ But how do they get it this tender? ⚫︎Soup A gentle soup. Both the shoyu and the miso are gentle. It's not that it's lacking, but with a little more impact (saltiness and richness), the overall rating would go up even more. On the other hand, for the elderly and children, maybe this level is just right.

At Rairaiken I had the large miso vegetable chashu. An old-school Sapporo miso that's lighter than it looks, with less sweetness and saltiness. The ginger comes through subtly, and it's really tasty. The noodles are the reliable Nishiyama noodles. Maybe a bit on the soft side. The chashu is tender, falling apart and fibrous, and the more you chew the more flavor comes out — delicious. The shiitake and onions are in big chunks, so you can enjoy the texture too. The shiitake in particular is really good. A ramen specialty shop that looks like a machi-chuka. The reviews on Google and Tabelog are a bit low, but most of the reasons are that the prices are a bit high. I think it's that much tastier, so don't complain
