Delicious and wonderfully inexpensive noodle shop. Curry on top of soba or udon are popular choices, and the tempura option is a disk of tempura flakes, not like what you’d normally expect. Food was served fast, and there was plenty of space for our group of five.
View on GoogleKamadaya Yamato branch I went and checked it out! First time in ages at Kamadaya! Back then, about 30 years ago (around Heisei 1), there were several shops in the city center. The one I used to frequent in front of the Iwamizawa Bus Terminal had already moved? What I ate as a student: ・kake soba 350 yen ・rice and curry 150 yen Prices have gone up since then, but you could still eat cheaply. A bit of trivia... The one who probably invented "rice and curry" was me! Maybe! I'm sure of it. Originally, the style was soba you could add toppings to, and the toppings included tempura, kitsune, curry, and so on. Since I was a student, I made an unreasonable request to the staff lady back then (the "mom") to put the curry topping on rice, and she let me eat it like that! I was a starving student, so I was overjoyed, I was hungry, it was delicious, and I told all my friends about it. So nostalgic! Next time I'm in Iwamizawa, I'll eat here again while soaking in the memories! Thanks a bunch.
View on GoogleSeeking good value, off to Iwamizawa City As expected, at Kamadaya, I ordered the great-value menu ✨ Ordered tempura soba and curry rice ☝️ Fast and tasty ✴️ So reliable~ 😆 Just this is plenty to satisfy me these days! (lol) Reliably delicious, I'll definitely be back! 😊
View on GoogleArrived at 15:10, just before the 4 p.m. closing. Unfortunately, they were only serving udon or curry. I bought curry udon with a meal ticket and the bowl arrived in about 2 minutes. I was impressed—truly a local chain loved by Iwamizawa locals. The taste was nostalgically delicious.
View on GoogleAn unquestionably delicious place. For this price, the ramen soup—which I think they make in-house—has a strong fish broth flavor. The kitsune my wife ordered was probably simmered in-house. And the soba is probably store-bought, but she raved that it had good chewiness and the broth was flavorful too. This quality at this price is a perfect 100 out of 100. I'll go again.
