Cheap and delicious!
View on GoogleKamadaya, a famous shop in Iwamizawa Counter seating only, and you order from a ticket machine. It's run by elderly women. This time I got the soba 3S (kitsune・tempura・egg) for 500 yen and rice and curry for 200 yen. Cheap! And the soba is delicious with a flavorful broth—so good! The rice and curry is so-so😆 A cheap, good shop! A place I love.
View on GoogleKamadaya Shibun branch" is a legendary noodle shop that continues to be loved as the soul food of Iwamizawa residents, boasting an overwhelming sense of reliability and astonishing value for money. Tracing its history, it all began in the Showa 30s (1955–1964) when the previous generation launched it as a noodle-making company in Miruto, in the former town of Kurisawa—a town that once thrived on coal mining. After that, overcoming the rough waves of the times and the great drama of the coal mines' closure, it moved its base into Iwamizawa City and has now evolved into an indispensable presence that firmly supports the stomachs of the city's residents. When you visit the Shibun branch, a warm, lodge-style space that feels somehow nostalgic welcomes you. Their soba, udon, and array of ramen, made with their prized house-made noodles, are served at unbelievably low prices, as if gracefully sidestepping today's soaring prices, perfectly satisfying your heart and stomach even when your wallet is feeling light. The speed after ordering is super express, yet they cut no corners—from the gentle umami of the broth and the firm, springy noodles to the hidden specialty, an authentic curry full of spices—and you can really feel the craftsmen's passion and dedication. At this renowned shop, where the trifecta of tasty, fast, and incredibly easy on the wallet miraculously comes together, both your heart and body will be warmed right up.
View on GoogleWent in right at opening on a weekday, and about 5 other people came in. I ordered the tempura soba for 400 yen from the ticket machine. Three older staff members were cooking, and it came right away in about 30 seconds. Long green onion and the round tempura with no fillings, but it's simple, cheap, and tasty. Kake soba is 350 yen, and you can eat the set menus cheaply too.
View on GoogleRating... or rather, whether "Kamadaya" is good or not is the same level of debate as whether "Miyoshino" is good, or how you'd rate "a standing soba shop is tasty" Zawa's (Iwamizawa's) soul food Plenty good after physical work on an empty stomach with no breakfast Today (2025/12/18), work ran until around 10, so I was able to stop by
