It's rather lonely, but I'm grateful it's been preserved.
View on GoogleThe former Kami-Horokanai Station in Horokanai, Hokkaido, is a spot where traces of an old station on a closed railway line quietly remain. The rusty platform frame still survives on site, helping you imagine what the platform once looked like. A station approach sign reading “上幌加内” also survives, along with rails and the track bed, making it a valuable discovery for railway relic enthusiasts. Peaceful rural scenery stretches around it, and you can enjoy the abandoned railway site in a quiet atmosphere. There are no large facilities, but seeing the platform framework and signs up close is quite moving. It's a simple, evocative former station worth stopping at when exploring Hokkaido's old local railway lines. When visiting, take the season and weather into account and enjoy a leisurely stroll.
