Neither the station building nor the platforms remain, just a token stretch of track and a station name sign. Of course I understand that preserving and maintaining facilities takes money and effort, but since Shumarinai was a key station on the Shinmei Line, I wish the local community had worked to preserve it as a transport park like Naka-Yubetsu, Kitami-Aioi, and Kitami-Takinoue. Sorry for making presumptuous comments as an outsider🙇

Visited while touring the stations of the Shinmei Line. Only the track remains… the bus stop waiting room has chairs, a toilet, and heating. It was very welcome for my chilled body….
