The view is the best, a 360-degree panorama. It was from this observation deck that I spotted a road running straight along the ridgeline of Komagatake. It wasn't in the car navigation, but I was able to get to the trailhead with google map.

On a clear day you can take in the Hakodate Plain, the tombolo, and the Hakodate city area all at once. I'd recommend this over riding the Mt. Hakodate ropeway (lol). It's a top hidden gem for anyone who wants to enjoy the scenery.

I climbed up prepared to be in the clouds. Luckily, the clouds disappeared rapidly while I was there. I was able to enjoy the majestic scenery of Komagatake, Lake Onuma, and Mt. Hakodate.
