Recommend to do the 1.5 hour loop hike from the cable car station. View was unexpectedly nice and if you hike up halfway the summit trail can hear the sulphuric vent upclose.

Nice place but remember to bring the right gears if you come in June or earlier, it could still be very icy 🥶 ❄️

Visited Asahidake in early winter under clear skies. The summit was covered entirely in snow, truly a silver world. Perhaps because the autumn foliage season had ended, the ropeway was uncrowded and comfortable. Since I wasn't wearing snowshoes myself, I didn't visit Sugatami Pond or any other spots at all. I'd like to visit again in a different season next time.

Asahidake's 3rd Observation Deck. You can see Suribachi Pond and Mirror Pond nearby, the mountain range of Susodaidaira in the distance, Asahidake in the background, and if you turn around, you can get a panoramic view of the magnificence of Asahidake's plains. These two ponds are also collectively called Fufu-ike (Couple Ponds).
