I remember it being featured in a game or something more than 20 years ago, and I think it was introduced as a hidden spot. There are no prominent signs or anything, and the view is not exceptionally spectacular, so it remains a little-known spot. But that's only because Hokkaido's standard for photogenic scenery is so high; I think this landscape really “hits home” for people from mainland Japan. There is space to park a few cars and just a 「幸福の鐘」 like you might find anywhere in Japan. Still, the view looking down over クッチャロ湖 from a gentle hill and the high chance of having a quiet space away from the main road all to yourself mean I always stop by when visiting northern Hokkaido. Despite the name 「クローバーの丘」, it doesn't seem to have clover growing in masses.

It was raining when I visited, but this place would definitely look fantastic in clear weather. Recommended for anyone photographing dawn, sunset, or even portraits. クッチャロ湖 is in front, with lush green grassland behind.

The highlight of a trip around the shores of クッチャロ湖. A hilly area with spectacular views overlooking クッチャロ湖 from above. It's incredibly beautiful, but there are bamboo thickets and wooded areas too, so I was a little worried about bears appearing. At those times, I continued while sounding the horn I had brought. The scenery is worth going to even with that effort
