At the Hakodate Morning Market, on the outer side near the tour bus parking lot, there is squid fishing (called zhongjuan in Taiwan), one squid per try for 1100 yen. Purely for fun. After you catch one, you can choose to have it BBQ-grilled or eaten raw as sashimi, then dine at the restaurant inside and pay after you finish eating.

I originally wanted to go squid fishing, but I hadn't done my homework properly, and on the day we came all the squid fishing places were closed 😭. So we went to the Takeda Kaneda shop across the street and ate king crab. It was very fresh, the owner's service was great too, and best of all the price was cheaper than other places.

Squid fishing is fun and tasty, and the big scallops are fresh too.
