A small, cozy eatery that is popular amongst locals. As a foreigner, it was intimidating to look at the japanese menu, so I used photos to show the (lovely and kind) owner what I would like to have. My husband and I ordered the katsu don and pork katsu curry, and both dishes tasted so good. It was probably one of the best meals we had during our stay here, especially for the price point. Hope this encourages more tourists to visit this little unassuming restaurant!
View on GoogleFound this local eatery that seems to be popular among locals. There is no English menu but used my limited Japanese to understand the menu and ordered. Basically they have various rice bowl like oyako don, katsu don etc and curry dishes like curry udon, curry soba, curry katsu, and tempura udon/soba. Ordered a katsu don which consist of a palm-size katsu, soft egg and onion strips above Japanese rice. Curry udon was good too, but I prefer katsu don. Very basic menu but the food is really cheap and tasty! Most choices are below ¥800 so it is no wonder why it is popular among locals.
View on GoogleDelicious, heart-warming food. The おばあちゃん (obachan) owner chef is one of the sweetest, kindest ladies we’ve met in Japan. I wish we could have gone another time while we were in town. You need to eat here if you’re in Hakodate.
View on GoogleCouldn't rate this more highly. When I think of Katsu Curry, I will only be disappointed it isn't from this restaurant as an australia. I wish I could eat here everyday. Wish I could rate it higher then 5 stars
View on GoogleExpected better from the reviews but I still find that this is good local food. Tried the katsu curry, katsu Don and tempura soba. Broth for the soba is just normal I guess and the noodles tasted like those Chinese wheat noodles. Katsu don fried with the eggs onion was our favourite order by far and was super tasty and good. Curry rice was ok and pork was really fresh, but nothing stood out about the curry I guess? Good food but won't really go out of the way to return here. Owners were really kind and made our orders fresh on the spot. Provided us with free hot tea on arrival! Be careful though as smoking is allowed in the eating area..
