Honest seller, fresh oysters, very good scallops. Better than inside the market.
View on GoogleThis shop welcomes large dogs. The dining room is small, but because it's small the heater works well and it's warm. The sea urchin of course, but everything was fresh: abalone (with liver), squid (with eggs), and sea urchin were all served live-prepared (ikizukuri), and the tuna and grilled hokke were all far too delicious. The portions were big too, and the melon was complimentary 🩷. With miso soup containing hairy crab and a heaping bowl of rice, 4400 yen per person is a bargain, I think.
View on GoogleI always stop by when I come to the Hakodate Morning Market♪ They have plenty of donburi on the menu too, but the crabs and shellfish lined up in front of the shop! I order these grilled or as sashimi. There are tables both inside and outside the shop. Of course the prices are probably market prices, but I had grilled <scallop ¥800>, and sashimi of <hokki clam ¥800> and <3 oysters ¥1000>! My recommendation is the hokki clam (о´∀`о) Sweet, crunchy, and big!
View on GoogleAt the Hakodate Morning Market, across on the sea side from Ekini Market, delicious-looking seafood is on display. When I asked if I could eat oysters on the spot, they said I could at the dining hall and guided me there.
View on GoogleThe morning was full of kaisendon shops, and I'd been looking around sightseeing without being able to decide where to eat when I was called out to and went in! The tsubugai (whelk) with butter soy sauce that was displayed in front of the shop was grilled on the spot and given to me as a complimentary extra! The menu I chose was just 1900 yen, and I could pick 4 types of my choice from about 10?? including sea urchin, abalone, crab, ikura, shrimp, and more (there were many other menu items I couldn't even choose from). It was very fresh, the sea urchin in particular was creamy and sweet, and the ikura was popping! The miso soup that came with it was rich in dashi and incredibly delicious… The staff were friendly and it was a really great shop! Besides kaisendon, you can also have just light snacks like botan shrimp, shellfish, and sea urchin, so I think it's a shop I can recommend to tourists who want to snack around many shops!
