Not sure what's the big fuss.. their Shio Ramen in my opinion is just a bowl of salty ramen. Their miso based ramen are better although they don't even rank anywhere on the top of my list. It's my 2nd time here (after 11 years) and the verdict is still the same. Unfortunately, it seems this place has gotten very popular as the queue was pretty long even after peak hour lunch time. Special mention to the supposed yummy karage, it was so tasteless!!! Literally just a deep fried piece of tasteless chicken.

We visited before 11:00 AM and still had to wait in line for about 30 minutes since there was already a queue when we arrived. The ordering process was simple and efficient. Once it was your turn, you ordered and paid using the self-service machine. After that, you just handed the receipt to the staff and waited for your food. The broth was flavorful from the very first sip, and the noodles had a great texture. Everything came together really well, and the seasonings they provided were also excellent. The gyoza tasted very good too and paired perfectly with the ramen. Later, we found out they also have a branch inside Hakodate Station, which is a convenient option if you do not have enough time to visit the main branch.

2026-02-13 1345 Had a 2/3 bowl of the signature shio ramen, white miso ramen, 1/2 gyoza and 2 pieces fried chicken. Waited at the outside line up for about 10 minutes. Entered the shop and we're seated upstairs. There were plenty of empty tables available. Hmmmm. There is a separate kitchen upstairs. Food arrived in less than 10 minutes from order. The noodle broth was steaming hot. The 2/3 shio ramen came with 3 large slices of chasu, stewed bamboo shoots and green onions. Broth was clear and tasty. The noodles were cooked to slightly al dente and had a good texture. The egg was perfect, with a bright orange yolk. The miso ramen had very good flavour. The gyozas were larger than most restaurants with a fresh tasting stuffing of pork and napa cabbage. The fried chicken pieces were huge! The coating was crispy and meat was tender and juicy. Service staff were very efficient and welcoming. She brought a separate pepper salt for use with the chicken. The table already has a group of 6 condiments. I enjoyed the food and service here very much and would recommend this restaurant

Excellent shio ramen in Hakodate, probably the best shio ramen I’ve had. The broth was incredibly tasty while still being lighter than you might expect. The service was impeccable and very warm, which made the whole experience even better. A great place to try Hakodate-style shio ramen.

Since 1930s, most famous and oldest Shio ramen in Hakodate. Waited about 45 minutes on a Monday to get in. The machine to order has a few languages but it was easy to use. Tried the special shio ramen 1250円、zangi 250円、and half gyoza 360円。 The portions are huge, the gyoza and zangi were large. The shio ramen was pretty good for shio style with not much fat, the noodles really absorb the soup alot. Toppings were pretty good. Food was great for 90 year old style. Staff friendly. Overall highly recommended to eat history.
