Whenever I’m back in Hokkaido, Golden Phoenix Ramen (Ryuho) inside the food park is an absolute must-visit. I got a late-night dinner of Miso Ramen topped with a boiled egg, paired with a bottle of Asahi Super Dry beer. ​Although there was a line at the food park entrance, it moved very quickly and I was seated inside in about 10 minutes. The spot is clearly a local favorite! As a non-Japanese speaker, Google Translate made ordering seamless. The food was fantastic and extremely affordable—a steaming bowl of ramen, egg, and a beer came out to just ¥1,550 (around $10.00 USD). Highly recommended!

I had a wonderful meal at this izakaya, sharing stories with the owners and chatting with locals. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, and I look forward to visiting again in the future as I will definitely be returning to Hakodate.

I wanted to feel more of Hakodate's atmosphere, so I went to Daimon Yokocho for a second round! Since I was full, I just had a glass of Japanese sake with a light snack. The large shrimp skewer had thin shells so it was tasty, and the grilled shiitake was also good. The owner, who has been to Korea a lot, speaks earthy Korean, haha, it was fun. Every time I come to Daimon Yokocho, I feel the prices are a bit high.

The owner and his wife are very kind and can speak a little Korean. There are quite a lot of domestic Japanese travelers and business travelers, and the distinctive atmosphere where even strangers mingle well is wonderful.

The food is delicious, especially the Saikyo-yaki which is very tasty. The staff are friendly. Recommended!
