Hakodate Mirakukan is a sleek, modern center for interactive technology, digital art, and hands-on learning. Designed to foster curiosity in science, technology, and media, it serves as an inspiring indoor space for children, families, and tech-curious travelers alike. The crown jewel of the center is a massive, ultra-high-definition LED display (one of the largest of its kind in Japan). It showcases immersive 3D digital art, high-resolution regional nature footage, and interactive games that respond dynamically to human movement in front of the screen. From floor projections that react to your footsteps to digital creation stations where visitors can manipulate light, sound, and visual data, the exhibits encourage active play rather than passive viewing. The facility regularly hosts drop-in workshops and digital crafting sessions, giving kids the chance to experiment with basic programming, creative design, and scientific concepts in a fun, friendly environment. Designed with young families in mind, Mirakukan features spacious rest areas, clean facilities, nursing rooms, and open sightlines, making it easy to keep an eye on children as they explore. Hakodate Mirakukan is a vibrant contrast to Hakodate’s traditional historic districts. While it is tailored primarily toward engaging children through digital play, adult visitors who appreciate creative technology and visual art will also find the displays impressive. Its convenient location right by the station makes it an ideal spot to let kids burn off energy or to spend a high-tech afternoon indoors.
View on GoogleIt's a smallish place but probably great if you have kids that need to burn some energy. There's interactive screen, tables with games, interactive room, machine to measure your heights (i got 2 different readings though lol). Entry is 300 yen and you need to take shoes off. If you come during weekday after 3pm, free drinks from the machine in the area called "Terrace". Also yoy can only drink in this area only (ie dont bring it out to the intearctibe area&
View on GoogleWhat a great place! 4th floor is basically a soft play area for kids - babies to 7-8 year olds. Big building blocks, building, slides, climbing areas, bouncy castle and more. 3rd floor, I definitely had more fun! Interactive games; 3D virtual tours etc. This place is more focused on the use of technology and STEM. Better for older kids 4 + (and adults).
View on GoogleGreat small museum for kids. Playcentre above the space museum also really good. You can take food in and eat it. Tables and chairs. Food mart on ground floor.
View on GoogleSimple but entertaining for kids. Not too big, but good to kill 1-1.5 hours here. My kid also enjoyed making robot here. Perfect for a educational gateaway while it was raining outside.
