GanGuro -Hakodate Jingisukan- is a jingisukan restaurant in Matsukaze-cho, Hakodate. It is right near the Matsukaze-cho Green Belt, and easy to stop by from Hakodate Station and the Daimon area. At our restaurant you can enjoy charcoal-grilled fresh lamb jingisukan. We handle fresh lamb from Australia and Iceland, and we also recommend comparing the differences in flavor and texture by origin. Because we buy lamb in half carcasses at a time, you can enjoy every part of it not only in jingisukan but also in various dishes such as lamb curry and stewed lamb tendon. For those who want to enjoy jingisukan in Hakodate, or are looking for dinner in the Matsukaze-cho・Daimon area…

It's a long-established Genghis Khan (jingisukan) restaurant, but this was my first visit. As someone from Hokkaido, I can't shake the habit of making jingisukan at home, so I almost never ate it at restaurants. The shop is small, and the proprietress said it's hot in summer and cold in winter. She laughed and said it's because the building is old, but it can't be helped. As for the jingisukan itself, they have fresh raw lamb but also proper whole-cut lamb (maru lamb), so they know exactly what matters. As a Hokkaido native, I prefer maru lamb over the mild (easy-to-eat) fresh lamb. Everyone, please do enjoy jingisukan over a shichirin charcoal grill.

There are two kinds, Icelandic and Australian, and each had a different deliciousness!! The menu is small, but the jingisukan alone is plenty enjoyable. The price is a bit high, though… it was just under 2,000 yen per serving.

I want people who dislike jingisukan to go eat here. And for those who love jingisukan, this is a place you absolutely must try. The raw lamb is eaten rare, with the red meat left slightly undercooked. There's no gamey smell at all. Above all, it's tender… There are three kinds: Icelandic raw lamb, Australian raw lamb, and thick-cut rolled lamb. If you like it light, go for the Icelandic…, and if you want to enjoy the surprise of having your idea of lamb changed, try the Australian 😊 It has become a must-visit whenever I come to Hakodate. It's a small shop run single-handedly by the proprietress. It might be better to make a reservation.

Visited at the end of December 2024. All the other lamb grill restaurants nearby required a reservation the day before? or several weeks ahead to get in. I came because they said I could walk right in. My companions said it was fine, but personally I didn't find it incredibly delicious, which is why the food rating is low. There are very few seats. The owner runs it alone. I can't say I recommend it; go only if you really have no other option.. Korean lamb restaurants seem a bit better. Or reserve somewhere else in advance before visiting..
