I had a really great lunch at 函館朝市 どんぶり横丁市場 while visiting the Hakodate Morning Market. The atmosphere inside was busy and lively, but still felt really welcoming and comfortable. There were so many seafood places to choose from that it was honestly hard deciding where to eat. I ended up getting a salmon and tuna bowl, and honestly, it was da bomb. The seafood tasted incredibly fresh, and the portions were way better than I expected. The salmon was buttery and soft, the tuna tasted amazing, and everything just worked perfectly together with the rice. You can really tell the seafood in Hakodate is on another level. What made the experience even better was sitting there warming up from the cold weather outside while eating such a good meal. It felt simple but really satisfying. If you love seafood, I’d definitely recommend stopping by here because it ended up being one of my favourite meals in Hakodate :)

I went there on a non holiday morning at around 8, the place was already full of people. Although it’s a seafood market, it hardly has any smells and it’s extremely clean. The food was delicious and the price was friendly.

Loved visiting Donburi Yokocho! Great atmosphere, lots of delicious seafood options, and a fun place to explore in Hakodate. The unexpected highlight was meeting the cutest little seagull outside 🥹🐦 She was absolutely adorable and made the visit even more memorable. Great food + cute seagull = 10/10 experience. Would happily come back!

Conveniently located just steps from Hakodate Station and the Morning Market, it’s easy to find and perfect for breakfast or lunch. The seafood here is incredibly fresh—salmon, uni, ikura, scallops, and crab are all top-notch and served over perfectly cooked rice. The variety of donburi options is impressive, and the quality rivals high-end restaurants. The atmosphere is casual, service is efficient, and you can taste the freshness in every bite. A great spot to enjoy authentic Hokkaido flavors right near the station.

Service was fast, our order was taken as we were in the queue and served almost immediately once we were seated. The sashimi was delicious and fresh, and everything tasted delicious. Many local diners and price was great value. A must visit at the morning market when you're in Hakodate!
