The Seikan Tunnel Museum is a fascinating stop that really puts into perspective the scale and ambition behind one of Japan’s greatest engineering feats. Visiting the museum feels like stepping into the story of how Hokkaido and Honshu were finally connected beneath the sea, and the exhibits do a good job of explaining both the technical challenges and the human effort involved. I appreciated how the displays balance detailed information with easy-to-understand visuals, making it engaging even if you’re not an engineering enthusiast. Standing inside the tunnel area itself adds a sense of gravity to the experience, knowing how deep and vast the structure is. It’s a quiet, educational visit that leaves you with a deeper respect for the perseverance and ingenuity that made the Seikan Tunnel possible.
View on GoogleGreat idea, probably very good if you can read Japanese fluently. My very beginner reading can't keep up. Lots of history of why the tunnel was built, and then how. Many interactive shows. I think it's probably easier to read up on an English website if you're not fluent in reading Japanese. But if you can read Japanese, it looked pretty neat!
