I visited on a business trip to Esashi. A local recommended it for its excellent location overlooking the sea. It is on elevated ground where police and Hokkaido government facilities are located, and you can enjoy ocean views from inside too. I ordered nishin oyakoju and soba gozen. The cold soba is delicious and made with buckwheat flour from Esashi. The well-seasoned herring in the nishin oyakoju also keeps you reaching for another bite. The herring roe might be a little small😅 The seafood soup comes with unlimited refills. There seem to be few lunch options in Esashi, so I think this is a valuable place. The herring in the nishinju was delicious, so I bought a pack of nishin kanroni displayed in front of the register.
View on GoogleOn day 4 of our Hokkaido touring trip, after visiting Kaiyo Maru, we were looking for lunch and happened to pass by just before 11:30 on Tuesday, so we stopped in. The parking lot is spacious and fits about 10 cars. Being on elevated ground, it has lovely views, and there is also a Sunset Terrace overlooking the sunset and the Sea of Japan, creating a nice atmosphere. The menu mainly offers Western-style set meals such as hamburger steak, but also Japanese dishes such as soba, all reasonably priced and appetizing. My companions ordered the hamburger steak set and soup curry. I ordered “DADEME curry”, topped with a large fried shrimp and vegetables fried without batter. It is basically mild and sweet, but perhaps because of the squid ink, it has a richness like coconut milk, with perfectly balanced spicy seasoning. It was an incredibly tasty curry with plenty of crisply fried toppings. We found this place by chance, but I would definitely like to return and eat here again. Thank you very much for the meal. That is all.
View on Google2025·R7.8.8 With no hotel or ryokan rooms available, I still wanted to see 姥神大神宮渡御祭 at least once, so I arrived in Esashi early to secure a spot in Kamome Island’s free parking lot right away. This was my first visit, for lunch. After checking beforehand, I entered intending to order “ダテメカレー”, but whether because of lunchtime or the festival, they said they were serving a limited menu, so ダテメカレー was unavailable😞. I settled for “nishin soba”, but it was delicious😋. The view from “Sunset·Garden” is lovely😃. ダテメカレー will have to wait for another time😚.
View on GoogleI visited during Obon. I was told “There is no omurice”, and there were far fewer dishes than on the menu shown in reviews. Perhaps they are focusing on hamburger steak and fried shrimp. Something about the service left me feeling uneasy, but both the menchi katsu and fried shrimp were generous in portion and delicious.
View on GoogleI had omurice hamburger, and my partner had ebi fry hamburger. Recently I had been leaning almost entirely toward Japanese food, so this was my first Western-style meal in a while. Many of the ingredients are from Hokkaido, and everything was delicious. Oldies music perfectly suits the restaurant’s atmosphere, and while waiting, the view is as good as an observation deck—more than enough! Next time, perhaps curry, Hokkaido pork 280g, or menchi katsu soba. I would normally leave some sauce, but forgetting my age, I finished every bit of the demi-glace.
