Authentic herring soba. Worth visiting.
View on GoogleIt is a little different from Kyoto’s herring soba, but this Hokkaido soba had a deep flavor. It is delicious soba that lets you appreciate the difference between eastern Japan’s koikuchi soy sauce and western Japan’s usukuchi soy sauce. The kombu stock comes through well, making for delicious soba. Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleI had the toriten-don set. You could choose between 2 types of noodles: handmade soba or noodles from a noodle factory. The toriten-don was super crispy, sprinkled with sesame, and wonderfully fragrant and delicious. The handmade soba was thinly cut with a subtle sweetness. The soba cooking water was incredibly delicious!! The parking lot can fit about 5 cars? It was full as soon as they opened at 11:30. They close when sold out, which shows how popular the place is. The service was pleasant, and I enjoyed the meal.
View on GoogleA few things I noticed… The notice asking people to let them know if they are short on time because of a ferry or bus is considerate of public transport users and leaves a good impression. There is a notice saying not to park near the fire hydrant in front of the restaurant, but putting it inside is pointless; I would like them to put a warning on an outdoor sign. I waited about 30 minutes and entered as soon as they opened, but I wished they had also taken orders in the order people arrived. The part-time server seemed to be a beginner and unfamiliar with the work. I could hear the owner sharply pointing out mistakes in writing order slips, passing on information, and the serving order, which made me uncomfortable. Unless part-time staff are taught the procedures beforehand, properly briefed, and shown how to fill in slips and handle ordering and serving sequences, both customers and employees will feel uncomfortable. Despite the wonderful soba aroma, savory broth, and soba cooking water, I left feeling unsettled. Incidentally, they did properly apologize for skipping the order.
View on GoogleWhen I went in, it was less busy than on my previous visit. I wanted to compare them, so I ordered one regular mori soba and one handmade version. After the young server took my order, I heard an older person who seemed to be the owner say something like, “You went out of your way to order the same menu item separately!?” My impression was that they are only friendly to regulars and customers who order expensive items. The interior is so full of warning notices that it feels noisy. The handmade soba was indeed thin, firm, and delicious, though.
