It was my first time seeing a rhinoceros beetle up close. There were about 20 varieties at different life stages. This museum is a quirky mish mash of insects and fish found in the nearby forests. It's a little small and kept in little hobby style glass enclosures. overall a good visit if you're in the area. Price of 450 yen is well worth it.
View on GoogleWe have been to this insectarium three times. My wife and I don't really like insects that much, but we always have a good time here. My children are interested in bugs and I always have lots of questions. The two people who work there are know EVERYTHING about insects and always spend lots of time answering our questions. The butterfly room is really cool and I am always amazed at how much work goes into breeding these butterflies which do not live very long.
View on GoogleI came with an acquaintance 😸 They seem to be interested in insects 🪲 and were drawn to the rhinoceros beetles and stag beetles 😃 This is exactly what people mean by sparkling eyes 😊 I also remember visiting this facility when I was little, and it has the same simple feel as back then 🙆 There's also a corner for the actor Sho Aikawa, which I knew about, but this time I looked at it carefully for the first time 😆 I'm not familiar with that field so I couldn't tell the value in detail, but it was impressive 😌 It's in a place where you can see butterfly specimens and butterflies flying up close, so even adults can enjoy it fully 😉
View on GoogleI went in 2019/7 on a trip by scooter from Saitama with nothing in my hands. After seeing Yamabiko Falls, while riding leisurely I found it by chance! I stopped in. It was a weekday, and a group had just left, so I was alone. The staff explained things kindly. Thank you! Rhinoceros beetles & huge larvae & beautiful stag beetles! Wonderful. The best! Also, the softshell turtle (suppon) kept staring at me and parting was hard (lol). Born and raised in the middle of the Kanto Plain! 45 years ago! Upper grades of elementary school! There were still lots of trees, and when it came to summer! every day I caught saw stag beetles & rhinoceros beetles! Raised them in a tank at home! My mother looked after them! (lol) Now there may be not even 10% of the trees there were back then! A good facility! It was fun!
View on GoogleA wonderful facility like this, in a place like this! Perhaps the most popular, the beetles and stag beetles of the world are amazing! A world boys will absolutely love. Besides that, there are various enjoyable exhibits such as the sound of live butterflies flying and the growth process of insects. There's also a secret cockroach exhibit, so if you're interested, check this out too
