Visited on 2026·R8.7.5. I often drive out to the current 町村農場·ミルクガーデン in Shinotsu, Ebetsu, but this was my first time here. 町村農場 is now in Shinotsu, Ebetsu; before that it was here in Tsuisikari, Ebetsu Town (now Izumino, Ebetsu), and earlier still in Tarukawa, Ishikari District (now Ishikari City). The founder, 町村敬貴, first established 町村農場 in Tarukawa in 1917·T6. In 1927·S2, he purchased Holstein cattle and 50 hectares of land in Tsuisikari (the site of this former 町村農場). In 1928·S3, he relocated 町村農場 to Tsuisikari, and in 1929·S4 built the residence (former 町村 residence), cowshed (first cowshed), and dairy processing room. In 1963·S38, it received the Emperor's Cup in the livestock category at the 2nd National Agriculture Festival. In 1969·S44, 敬貴 passed away at 86. In 1992·H4, the farm moved to Shinotsu, Ebetsu. In 1996·H8, the facilities here were restored and refurbished as the former 町村農場 and opened to the public. In 2007·H19, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry recognized it as "Heritage of Industrial Modernization." In 2008·H20, a designated management system was introduced. In 2023·R5, it closed for major renovations, then reopened on 2024·R6.6.6 with a "kids' space" in the first cowshed and "COFFEE & GIFT SaLooN Machimura" in the former 町村 residence. These are the historic buildings of the farm founded by 町村敬貴, a pioneer of Hokkaido dairy farming. The first cowshed is a wooden structure from the early Showa era, but apparently it uses the "King-style cowshed" design, the latest technology at the time. Opening hours are 9:00〜17:00, closed every Monday (the next weekday if Monday is a holiday) and over the year-end/New Year period (12/29~1/3; the first cowshed and dairy processing room also close for winter on 11/24~4/28). Admission is free. A quiet, nice place. For families with small children, this kids' space should be a great help (lots of toys and room to run around. However, given that it's a cowshed facility, precautions against seasonal heat, cold, and insects are considered your own responsibility).

That also makes it melt easily, so I recommend a cup if you're worried about melting. The open space around the building has character too, and we could look around the former cowshed. I think it's a facility you can enjoy with children. There's a 蔦屋 very close by, so stopping before or after visiting 蔦屋 would be good too.

View on GoogleI visited just after noon on Saturday. It wasn't very crowded. It was my first visit since the renovation, and they sell coffee, soft serve, and other things. There are exhibits explaining the history of 町村農場, a children's play area, and play equipment, so it seems useful on bad-weather or extremely hot days. There's no admission fee, so I think it's easy to visit.
View on GoogleThis was my first visit. Inside the cowshed are old farming implements and displays about the 町村 family's many achievements in Hokkaido's development and dairy farming. There was a kids' space at the back too. Inside the former 町村 family residence, there's also a café and a small rest area.
