Delicious French food in the Japanese countryside!

レストラン アンサンブル is a French restaurant in Chitose that has been listed in consecutive editions of the Michelin Guide. Nestled in a forest, it serves courses prepared by the owner-chef, who trained in France. Using fresh ingredients from Hokkaido and imported from France, it offers the flavors of each season. The interior has a calm atmosphere, ideal for special-occasion meals too. It's conveniently located about a 15-minute drive from New Chitose Airport.

On the way back from Chitose Airport, I wanted a hamburger steak and saw a promotional banner, so I stopped by. I'd actually been curious about this place for a while. But the cafe was closed, and this restaurant seemed to be French. I went in, but the menu was a French lunch menu, so I left, and someone from the restaurant called me back. They said I could have a hamburger steak. Then came the hamburger steak set. They said it was braised, but it had a firm bite that suited my taste. As good as the hamburger steak was, the grilled vegetables on the side were delicious! The eggplant was good, but the grilled broccoli was outstanding. The potato soup was delicious too, and the quality of flavor in every single dish was extremely high. I forgot the explanation of the dessert, but it was sweet and pudding-like, and delicious as well. Just what you'd expect from a hamburger steak set served at a French restaurant. Completely different from the hamburger steaks I usually eat. The service and explanations of the food were pleasant too. I had a happy time with delicious food in a lovely restaurant. I'll visit again.

Bad reviews get deleted. All the food was simply grilled. There were no elaborate dishes worth the price. There's a large table in the middle of the room, and to go around it, a female server repeatedly passed extremely close to our table for tasks unrelated to serving us. We couldn't have a relaxed conversation. Various other aspects of the serving etiquette were unacceptable too; retraining seems necessary.
