This is my second visit. I love the beautiful Kotan atmosphere. They also have a wide selection of crafts and stylish souvenirs. The lady in charge was friendly and we had a fun conversation.
View on GoogleAbit different from The National Ainu Museum but as good, you can’t compare the two as they have different stuff on display. On the grounds there were a few huts showcasing the different traditional skills with craftsmans showing their work. This place is not as modern but definitely worth the drive.
View on GoogleThis was top on my itinerary for my visit to Hokkaido and it did not disappoint. The museum is carefully curated and incredibly well kept. There's little side activities along with a lot of information presented in such a way that is engaging and educational. The front desk offers English guides and though most of the signs/placards through it did not have English translation, they did have QR codes to scan to access English and sometimes a voice reading. I personally used Google translate a lot and got on just fine. I enjoyed my time and hope to return some day! Also Very friendly and helpful staff! There's also a lovely cute cafe on the grounds that was a nice way to end my visit!
View on GoogleSuch an interesting museum. Famous woodcarver works from the tourist gift shop in the very far car park with bear statue outside . Go and meet him. I loved seeing the kimonos made from natural fibre and all the motifs. Such a beautiful museum to honour the Ainu. I would suggest a plan to have 3 hrs here. Never knew about QR reader thing. Should have checked here before and read some reviews . Visit this place for sure.
View on GoogleThe museum has a very nice selection of artifacts/ replicas. A lot of the displays have QR codes to get information in different languages. The village has a large collection of buildings with different crafts etc.
