2025·R7.9.6, first visit. A roof shaped like a fuki leaf sits above the hollow of a large tree. The explanatory sign reads: 「According to Ainu oral tradition, long ago this village had a myth about "コロポックル=people who live beneath fuki leaves". When the Ainu were in trouble, the deity would suddenly appear, help them, and bring happiness. Based on the legend that this deity lived in a hollow among tree roots, this house was built using natural wood with fuki leaves as its roof. Follow the deity's example, bring happiness to others, and find happiness yourself; please enter the house and take a commemorative photo. Capacity: two people October nineteen ninety-six 萱野 茂 二風谷アイヌ資料館」. Meanwhile, the web page for "萱野 茂 二風谷アイヌ資料館" says: 「A コロポックル house made for fun by the first director, 萱野茂. We cannot shrink people, so this house was made with fuki fashioned from iron plate and a doorway added to the hollow of a large tree. Photography is unrestricted. An Ainu legend tells of little people called コロポックル who live beneath fuki leaves and help the Ainu in times of trouble. Why not become a コロポックル yourself in this enormous house?」. By the way, the "fuki leaf" looks like galvanized sheet metal, so please don't touch it (we wouldn't want you to cut your hand).
