The photo gallery 拓真館 is located in 美瑛, Hokkaido. In 1987年, landscape photographer 前田真三 renovated the site of the closed former 千代田 Elementary School and opened the gallery. It mainly displays numerous landscape photographs of the hills of 美瑛 and 上富良野 taken by 前田真三. Besides 拓真館, the grounds include a birch corridor planted by 前田真三 in cooperation with 美瑛 Town, lavender fields, and more, which can also be enjoyed as photography spots.

If I had time, I would spend more than 1 hour. Which is a really good place to look around, not only for galleries but also for nearby mountains. Pictures and shop items are beautiful.

31 August 2025 Visit this place on my way to Furano as i followed a day trip package from Klook Wish i had bring my purse down as i wanted to purchase the 2026 calendar. I hope people come here can do donations as i did only with all the small notes & coins in my pockets. The photographer capture nature with its main character a tree. The photographer (and his dad) who made Biei area popular through their wonderful photos. This is their museum and it's free (donation based) to enter. Once you are in it, be prepared to be amazed by the work of these dedicated individuals. You will most likely leave with a few postcards or even a photo book of their remarkable work.

I caught some beautiful pictures from secondary art work and the outlook from their windows. You can enjoy the beauty of Hokkaido from the art work and the surroundings.
