Notsuke Peninsula Nature Center is an excellent starting point for exploring the unique landscapes of the Notsuke Peninsula. The center provides informative exhibits about the area’s wildlife, migratory birds, and the famous “Todowara” dead forest, helping visitors better understand the peninsula’s fragile ecosystem. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, and you can also gather maps and updates about walking trails and current conditions. The building is clean and well maintained, with restrooms and basic facilities available. Whether you are planning a short visit or a longer nature walk, the center is a valuable and educational stop before heading out to enjoy the wide-open scenery and coastal views.
View on GoogleA unique, delicious, and interactive local specialty in Hokkaido! The Notsuke Peninsula Nature Center is worth visiting not only for its stunning coastal landscapes, but also for its famous local culinary experience: the Betsukai Jumbo Scallop Burger! What makes this meal so special is the fun DIY aspect. You get a set with local scallop spring rolls, fresh mozzarella, lettuce, wedges, three signature sauces, and a huge glass of delicious Betsukai milk. A helpful instruction sheet guides you step-by-step on how to assemble your own ultimate burger. It’s super tasty, highly interactive, and features incredible regional ingredients. A fantastic and fun stop for international travelers exploring Eastern Hokkaido!
View on GoogleInstead of building a center they should start acting on truly protecting the area. There is plenty of fishermen waste, boats and buildings which are not used just become a waste and pollute. The fishermen use plenty of engines that seem to burn some nasty petrol the smell is so strong. This does not seem a national park it seems a fishermen dump. The nature center should act to prevent this and protect the area instead of selling souvenirs. Shame on you, that is just greedy. Do something to truly protect the area. Clean up and stop leaving broken boats to rust here. If it is a national park the industry should be stopped.
View on GoogleThis is a very informative nature center and gift shop. It explains the history of the Notsuke peninsula. There are some taxidermy animals on the second floor. It also has a map of recently spotted animals on the peninsula. You can walk out across the field along a path and see lots of animals too.
