> We stopped by Shin Horaiken (新宝来軒) for lunch while exploring the Furano area during our Hokkaido road trip, and it turned out to be an absolute gem of an authentic local dining experience. The moment you walk in, you are greeted by a warm, nostalgic atmosphere and incredible aromas that instantly make your mouth water. The menu offers a fantastic lineup of classic Japanese-Chinese comfort food and hearty ramen, all prepared with fresh local ingredients; the signature ramen broth was remarkably rich and deeply savory, perfectly complemented by springy, well-textured noodles, while the local pork dishes were exceptionally tender, full of flavor, and cooked to absolute perfection. The portions were extremely generous and deeply satisfying after a long morning of driving and exploring the scenic countryside. Even during peak lunch hours when the shop was buzzing with locals and in-the-know travelers, the staff was remarkably welcoming, attentive, and efficient, ensuring our food arrived piping hot in no time. It is exactly the kind of unassuming, high-quality local eatery that leaves a lasting impression and makes traveling through Hokkaido so memorable. If you are driving through the Furano region and looking for an authentic, delicious, and thoroughly comforting meal, Shin Horaiken is a absolute must-visit spot that I would return to in a heartbeat.

Original noodle “gatatan” is so nice. You can change it’s taste with Chinese chili oil. Let’s try ‼️‼️
