I went in for the first time in a whole 45 years. And I got to enjoy old-fashioned Showa-era ramen. It's simple, but I think being able to stick with that comes from real underlying strength.

2026/3 A Showa-retro shop. Shio ramen and fried rice set. The shio ramen has a comforting chicken-bone broth flavor and is of course delicious. The fried rice is yakimeshi-style, and it's great in its own way! And cheap!

A diner long loved by locals. The mother and son, whose kind personalities really come through, welcome you warmly. The signature Jingisukan Ramen has thick, delicious jingisukan on top that goes incredibly well with the miso soup. And what's surprising is how cheap it is! This price nowadays? A newspaper article in the shop said they keep the same price as before because 『precisely because prices of all kinds are rising, we can't put a burden on our regulars』. It was so delicious that I also bought meat to take home. They even went out of their way to include the sauce. Next time I'd definitely like to come for the late-night yonaki ramen...

My 3rd visit. Both the shoyu ramen and the Jingisukan ramen are delicious!

At the long-established 「まるとみ食堂」 in Ashibetsu City, I enjoyed superb miso ramen and donburi! Loved by locals for many years, this shop has a charming Showa-retro atmosphere. In particular, the 「Jingisukan Ramen」, where jingisukan and miso soup are perfectly matched, has reportedly kept the same flavor for 50 years. The vegetable-loaded ramen and donburi made with local ingredients are also recommended. If you visit Ashibetsu, be sure to drop by!
