2026·R8.4.4 First visit while strolling through Tokiwa Park after touring the Asahikawa Museum of Literature. Here's an excerpt from the Asahikawa Tourism Association's web article: "Located in Tokiwa Park, this observatory was installed in 1950·S25 as a centerpiece of the Hokkaido Development Grand Exposition (note: held 1950·S25.7.15 - 8.23, planned and held to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the settlement of Asahikawa). It sits on a small hill (note: behind the current Asahikawa Tokiwakan·Asahikawa Museum of Literature), and inside the 4.5m dome is a 15cm refracting telescope made by Goto Optical. It was the first observatory in Hokkaido and carried out continuous observation of sunspots. It closed in January 2005·H17 and was merged into the Asahikawa Science Museum "Saipal". Today, the building and a plaque with an inscription remain." Am I the only one who wants to see inside? By the way, the observation of sunspots and prominences that had continued at this observatory is apparently still carried on today at the observatory of the Asahikawa Science Museum Saipal.
