I didn't notice any original touches, but the food was competently prepared. The chawanmushi stood out and was an excellent dish.

In Asahikawa, near the Red Cross Hospital, it feels like a Japanese-food family restaurant, perhaps? You can hold memorial services on the 2nd floor. Koto music plays, giving it a “Japanese” feel, yes. There's free coffee at lunchtime. I had the shrimp tempura rice bowl set (warm soba), 1,200円. The parking lot is large, so it's easy to park.
