This museum is definitely a recommended place for family. There are so many hands-on activities for children, so many things to learn and in a fun way! The ticket is cheap for such an amazing activities. I did not enter the planetarium so cannot comment on that, but the museum itself is a worth to visit. The staff is friendly and you can see that they are being extremely cautious during the preparation for the activity. I like the moon gravity experience the most.
View on GoogleIf you're up for some interactive fun, then this is a fascinating place for both kids and adults. There are easily some 30 stations to explore with instructions printed in both Japanese and English. Staff is present at a few stations to help you get into the contraptions like the one to experience the moon's gravity. My favorite was the Sub-Zero temperature room (-32.5 degrees Celsius). You don't just go into the room to experience the freezing cold; you get to shake a bottle of water, swing a wet towel and blow bubbles to find out what happen in such a low temperature. This place is about a 15 - 20 minute walk from Asahikawa station. Admission is 410 yen in cash. If you add on the admission for the planetarium, it will come up to only 520 yen. However the planetarium show is only in Japanese language.
View on GoogleA new experience! This was my first time going to Planetarium. The best to go when you well rested, so don't fall asleep under the stars. My friend said they change the movie every month. The staff is friendly too.
View on GoogleVisited on 1st November 2024. It’s a fun place to learn about science. It would take at least 2-3 hours to truly appreciate the exhibitions. Most of the exhibits have English translation and the exhibition staff were friendly and approachable too. There is an observatory on the rooftop. Unfortunately, it was cloudy that day and we were unable to use the telescope. The view of the city from up there was great though. The only downside was the show in the planetarium, it was passable and had little to do with astrophysics. Regret being stuck in there for 40 minutes. Other than that the museum itself is a good place to visit.
View on GoogleFun museum to look through. It's very hands on and interactive. Admission fee is 420 yen per adult for the museum alone. You can get a combo ticket with the planetarium for about 530 yen per adult. Great discount if doing both together. But the commentary for the planetarium is only in Japanese. Admission fee is payable only in cash.
