「About Baikoken」 Founded in 1969. A ramen shop from Asahikawa, Hokkaido. Ramen has long been loved as the food of ordinary people, and it was likened to the "ume" (plum) of 松竹梅 (pine, bamboo, plum), and named with the thought of "shining a light on the ume". Its hallmarks are the "W soup" and "medium-thin curly noodles" that originated in Asahikawa. Simple, unpretentious ramen that pursues a balance of flavors. Each bowl is handmade honestly and openly, with a humble, deeply nourishing deliciousness you can eat every day. ☆The "W" soup born in Asahikawa: a rich, savory "animal-based" broth combining rarely distributed Hokkaido pork bones and domestic chicken bones, blended with the umami of "seafood" from niboshi (dried anchovy/katakuchi iwashi) and Hokkaido kombu (Rishiri, Kushiro, etc.). …

There was a training session at the Jibasan Center, so I used this place for lunch. I also love Baikoken's shoyu, so I ordered the Asahikawa Shoyu Chashu and fried rice set. You order and pay using a large touch panel. I was handed a pager and waited at my seat for about 10 minutes, then was called to pick up my order at the counter. I was surprised that the fried rice in the set wasn't a half portion but a full single serving. The ramen has a reliable deliciousness and feels like proper Asahikawa ramen. The shoyu flavor with a slight sourness is unique and tasty. The fried rice has big chunky pieces of chashu, so it's very satisfying. I'm very satisfied.

30 minutes by car from Asahikawa Airport. I had Asahikawa ramen for lunch at "Asahikawa Ramen Baikoken" in "Michi no Eki Asahikawa". "Baikoken" is a famous shop that is also in the "Hokkaido Ramen Dojo" at New Chitose Airport. There are several branches in Asahikawa itself, but I went to this one because of its large parking lot. The shop is inside the michi no eki food court, and the tables are long tables, so it's fine for solo diners. I ordered the "Asahikawa Shoyu Ramen 1,030 yen" from the ticket machine. It was served in about 10 minutes. It looks simple, but the menma is thick and big. There's a generous amount of green onion. The soup is tonkotsu shoyu, with a mellow, gentle shoyu flavor, and it's delicious! The noodles are medium-thick and cling well to the soup. I finished everything including the soup in 10 minutes. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal.

A ramen shop inside a food court. It's food court style: you buy a meal ticket in advance and are given a bell. This is my second time having Asahikawa ramen in Asahikawa. The soup here has a somewhat strong shoyu flavor (salty from shoyu). It might be good for a body tired after exercise.

The shoyu butter corn ramen was very delicious. When I stayed overnight in my car at the michi no eki, I thought I'd have to walk all the way to the station to eat Asahikawa ramen, but then I found this place. Since it's a food court, the atmosphere and service are so-so, but the ramen was delicious!

I visited during a trip to Asahikawa. I had the miso ramen. The lard floating nicely on the surface kept it piping hot until the end. The texture and sweetness of the fragrantly stir-fried vegetables went so well with the soup, and it was delicious. The thin curly noodles clung to the soup perfectly, and I was fully satisfied down to the last bite. Actually, after ordering, I spotted a menu item that looked so good that I asked if I could change to hiyashi chuka. Because of the credit card payment, the change wasn't possible, but the staff handled it politely without showing the slightest displeasure. The ramen is of course delicious, but the warm hospitality of everyone at the shop left a strong impression. A place like this makes you want to come back. If you're eating ramen in Asahikawa, this is a place I can recommend with confidence. I'd love to visit again when I'm in Asahikawa. Thank you for the meal!
