2026.3 Operating since Showa 31 in Akabira City's entertainment district. Apparently it originally served sushi and hot pot, but now also offers Chinese food and other dishes. This time I visited for a banquet. The venue was a large tatami room on the 2nd floor. Besides hors d'oeuvres and assorted sashimi, there were Chinese dishes such as mapo tofu and ankake yakisoba, making it a very generous course. Since the gathering included both adults and children, the menu seemed to have been thoughtfully arranged with various needs in mind. Every dish was delicious, satisfying both our stomachs and our hearts. I didn't get to have it this time, but Yachiyo is known for its delicious “Gangan Nabe,” Akabira's soul food. Yachiyo's “Gangan Nabe” is curry-flavored. It goes well with both rice and alcohol, so I might want to have “Gangan Nabe” next time too. Lunch seems popular as well, so I'd like to find an opportunity to go eat there. 2025.6 Gangan nabe is the soul food of Akabira City, a coal-mining town. Pork offal, tofu, vegetables, and other ingredients are vigorously simmered in miso broth. The gangan nabe at “Yachiyo,” founded in S31, is curry-flavored and easy to enjoy. The jumbo chawanmushi is quite large and filling. The owner is pleasant too, and I'd like to try sushi next time.

A sushi restaurant in Hokkaido. “Yachiyo Sushi” Although it's a sushi restaurant, it also has Gangan Nabe and Chinese food. This Gangan Nabe was a popular food in old coal-mining towns and seems to belong to a category called “Tantetsuko Meshi.” “Ankake kata yakisoba” is also recommended. Everything is delicious. がんがん鍋 has a curry flavor and is easy to enjoy. The savory flavors of the offal and vegetables come through, and the rice porridge at the end is fantastic too. The prices are reasonable, and the staff are kind.

I stopped by for lunch during work. It was cold, so I went in wanting something warm to eat. Without hesitation, I ordered the lunch menu item 「がんがん鍋セット」 that I'd heard about from others🤚 It's a curry-flavored hot pot with pork offal. It comes with rice, a small side dish, and pickles, making it a filling meal. It was my first time trying it, but it feels addictive😋 Thank you for the meal.
