You can see the section where 赤平's coal seam has folded and emerged above ground. There is a viewing terrace, and the seam is on the riverside cliff face about 1000m away. It's along a cycling path. If you're coming by car, it's convenient to park at the soccer field and walk about 500m.

There is no dedicated parking lot. A small sign stands by the road. After walking along the footpath for about 5 minutes, you'll find an information board, then go down some stairs to a viewing area about the size of a space for 1 car. You can see the flow of 空知川 and a faint glimpse of the coal seam in the distance. There are no facilities such as toilets or running water. There are houses nearby, but bears appear in this area in summer, so caution is needed.

As the photo shows, the vegetation is so overgrown that you can't see anything. There's a rope telling you not to lean out, but in this condition, of course people would. There's an impressive sign in front of the area, but I didn't see any signs along the road or elsewhere indicating that this area exists. It was a place where I couldn't really understand what they were trying to do.

Comments saying it couldn't be seen were near the top, but as of 2024/8/18, the grass had been cut specifically in the direction of the exposed coal seam, and I could see it clearly. It's not on the opposite riverbank directly ahead, but on this side of the river, toward the left as you face it. There are signs from the road, and there is also a spacious parking area.

I visited for the first time because it was featured in the newspaper. There weren't any directional signs and so on, so the route was hard to find, and I finally managed to arrive. The sign and viewing platform are maintained, but it's too far away to see clearly. I think it's best to bring binoculars.
