A place simply to see the merapi’s eruption. Make sure the merapi is clearly visible before come here and the sky is clear too. Mostly the eruption happens 7PM-8PM. Two days in a row i came here and mostly at those hours. This place is quite near my house so it was nice to find this place. The fee for local is Rp 10k.

We came at around 8pm via a local tour and stayed for 3 hours. We were lucky to see larva flowing down twice within an hour. The weather was cloudy, windy and sometimes drizzling. So it was a big cold at 25 degree though it was not a perfect weather. The host served us Salam fruit, beverages and snacks. A good place to do star gazingandg chill out with friends.

If you find yourself here you may be lost. It’s a bit out of the way but has great views of Merapi. The cafe also serves as an advanced warning station for neighbouring villages as it is in a real danger zone for Lahars and possible pyroclastic flows. Clouds tend to obscure the view early morning.
