One of the most satisfactory Kopitiam for the price in Jogjakarta. The attention to details just before serving is commendable such as seasoning the eggs and Hakau. The seafood chong fen was excellent, too. One suggestion is to improve the speed of the kitchen. That said, we requested the congee and steam chicken to be served first for the kids, and they did. Another one is to improve the congee base. In any case, we will be back.

I had a high expectation since all the comments were appraising this resto as a good one! It was indeed a delicious food for 5 spices chicken & the tarubi rice bowl.. I don’t suggest the beef chong fen, it contained too much pepper.. unfortunately the pepper dominated the taste, which makes it not so edible. The yuba was okay. One thing that startled me was the table and the placement, so a lot of the table was v much designed for around 4 people.. therefore a lot of the tables were having empty spaces which we couldn’t take seat…. I’d come back, but there’s a lot for improvement hereee

Great place with comforting food and cozy vibes! Really enjoyed my visit to HOU KIE Kopitiam — the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The rice bowl with beef, soft egg, and potatoes was super flavorful and satisfying, and the dim sum was fresh and tasty. Their drinks were also unique — I especially liked the mix of Badak soda and the citrus coffee with dried pineapple garnish! The interior has a fun, modern kopitiam look. Staff were friendly and helpful, creating a nice and relaxed atmosphere overall. Definitely a great spot for casual dining or a cozy lunch break. Will come back again to try more from their menu!

The noodle is great and the wonton is meaty, the seasoning on the chicken is perfect 💯 ✨. The side that we ordered also good, it's balanced between flavours and textures. And the mango pudding? Man, the pudding isn't too sweet and just hits after all the salty foods. It'd be perfect if it's a little bit fresh and acidic but overall? I'll give it 9,7/10 👌

To be honest, the food was wonderful. I must say it's a new and fresh taste angle in Jogja. We ordered few and my top was five spice wok chicken. The service was super slow, and it's pretty uncomfortable: 1. the cashier had some kind of problem with the previous customer so we had to wait and when they input the menu it took some time 2. We waited for one hour for the food to come out, they came one by one and my friends need to wait for other food to arrive first. 3. Our toast came first and then the drinks, but one drink (teh tarik) took more time and my friend's already thirsty (40 minutes in) and I think drink must come out first in the order 4. Our laksa noodle order, the noodle was really hard and clumpy. We returned it and the kitchen said the noodle texture was supposedly like that. But we insist because it was truly not edible :') Thankfully they cook it again for us. Overall, the quality control is not tidy at all and so messy. The waiter asks about what order isn't out yet when clearly my friend's side is empty 😭😭 But anyway, it could be improved and the food are all good. I really recommend Five spice chicken and the congee. It's really affordable, but the service really need to be improved. I would love to come again if the service is already better. 10/10 for food!! p.s. the chili oil wass really great!! 8/10 🫶🏻
