The museum is very good. The collection is well curated, and paints pak Affandi as a real person and family man besides as an artist. The museum is cozy and homey, not stuffy. If you are lucky you can meet and chat with ibu Kartika Affandi, pak Affandi's daughter. There is a surcharge of IDR 20000,- to bring your phone and take photos inside the museum. I recommend it. Every artpiece has a QR code attached, which give more elaborate explanation about the piece. Info is is in English and Bahasa Indonesia only.
View on Googlebeautiful spot by the river in the middle of the city. Amazing works by he and his daughter. well worth the visit. Lovely gift andbteanor coffee with entry 100k each.
View on GoogleVery nice original museum with organic lively buildings and a green lush cafe. The ticket is maybe on the high side compared to other museums in Indonesia, but it also includes a souvenir and a drink at that cafe. There are two buildings for the works of Affandi himself, and the third is reserved for other exhibits ( may be closed sometimes). It’s small but worth visiting, and it’s always good to support individual independent art centres like this. Staff is also very kind and friendly, so thanks for the experience.
View on GoogleThe Affandi Museum is a renowned art museum located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, dedicated to the works of the Indonesian maestro painter, Affandi. He designed the museum building with a distinctive roof resembling a banana leaf. It's surrounded by lush trees and flowers, providing a serene environment. The museum houses approximately 300 of Affandi's paintings and sketches, displayed periodically. These works span various periods of his career, showcasing the evolution of his artistic style. In addition to Affandi's own creations, the museum also exhibits works by other prominent Indonesian artists, including paintings, sculptures, and statues from artists like Basoeki Abdullah, S. Sudjojono, and Affandi's family members (his wife Maryati and daughter Kartika). The museum also offers insights into Affandi's personal life, with areas like his bedroom in the "Loteng" building, his vintage car, bicycle, and other personal belongings on display.
View on GoogleThis museum is dedicated to the Indonesian artist Affandi (1907-1990) and was also the place where he lived. You can tell that this museum doesn't feel like a normal museum. It's very artistic and the colors are bright. You can also learn about Affandi's family in this museum, especially his daughter Kartika, who is also a painter. Highly recommend this place for art lovers.
