I honestly don't know if this place is open or not. It's locked, but not really because the lock is just a single nail. Still, I don't want to risk trespassing. Update, met a local, apparently you need to make an appointment first, contact this person called Rubiso (phone number's on the notice), and he'll let you in. (I could contact him right now, but I'm just one person, I don't really want to bother the guy. Also it's not like I can't come here easily, I'll update the review if I come back) Usually people come here with the jeep tour, so it'll open morning till noon. So come around that time maybe, instead of afternoon(I got here around 3.30pm). Also as the notice says, if you come here to film, put it on social media, etc, you do need to pay. (I honestly don't know in my case if I have to pay or not. I just want to look inside because of slight curiosity, no social media or anything). Maybe they need to add more info about that at the front. Honestly it's maintained as much as I was expected, which is good. Though I wish it was more maintained, but I can understand that not a lot of people visited. The road going there is a bit rough. I came from the east side, it gets better when you get closer to the place, and there's a way from the west, so maybe the road's better from that direction. The inside from the other photos looks cool, that's why I don't want to rate it too harshly.
View on GoogleThis was an excellent stop on the Merapi Sunrise Jeep Tour. The village was destroyed by the hot ash coming down from the Merapi eruption of 2010. A great windows into the events of that tragic day in 2010. Safe travels, Mega.
View on GoogleI once went there alone. But why was the door locked? I wanted to enter through the back door, but I felt uncomfortable. It was very quiet, in the end, I stopped by that multi-story house. There I wanted to meet a man who was cutting grass. He was very kind, he shared everything with me about Kampung Ngepringan. One story that touched my heart. There was one resident, named Mr. Muhaji, he was a victim of the Merapi eruption and his body has not been found to this day. Oh God, as a resident of Prambanan, I offer my deepest condolences...🙏🙏🙏

View on GoogleTraces of the past when the area was swept by the hot clouds of Mount Merapi 2010... the area is now a former village that is quiet with no human life, only silent witnesses in the form of buildings, roads damaged by time.... According to information from local witnesses, there are still 3 residents who are missing to this day and their fate is unknown....
