Klangon Hill is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into a secret balcony overlooking Mount Merapi’s fiery living room. From up here, you get front-row seats to the volcano’s inner drama—assuming she feels like showing up. Merapi is famously moody; she spends half her life wrapped in a self-made cloud blanket like a diva who refuses to sign autographs. If you actually want to see her face, drag yourself out of bed by 5:30 a.m. and trek the one-hour trail to the hill. Don’t forget your hiking gear, unless you enjoy slipping on damp rocks while regretting all your life choices. After the climb, you can grab breakfast at one of the little stalls, where instant noodles and hot tea taste like five-star cuisine purely because your legs are still working. And if Merapi decides to stay hidden? Well, at least you can tell people you woke up before dawn for a cloud.
View on GoogleA nice place to kill the time with family for getting a fresh air and enjoy the nature. When you visit there, please do hiking to the top of Bukit Klangon. Just 1 hour of hiking you can reach the top. And if you are lucky, you will see how amazing mount of Merapi is. 1 more, please drink special drink there. That is 'wedhang gedhang'. It can help to warm your body🫰
View on GoogleThis is the second highest peak that you can see up close on Mt Merapi. Travelling is easy from Jogja Town Centre around 1.5hrs approximately. I suggest come on weekdays and in the morning. There are local eateries that you can enjoyed too.
View on GoogleI went there on month of feb in a low season. Just quite and relaxing area, one thing i regret is mount merapi doesn't show clearly as covered by haze. Sit here for a while dont rush, take picture, get a cup of coffee from local stall is perfect way to enjoyed klangon. There is a tiny mushala but clean so you can pray. It was lovely short trip!!
