Taman Sari Palace, Yogyakarta 🇮🇩 A wonderful experience visiting Taman Sari Palace, the historic Water Castle located near the Kraton Yogyakarta. This beautiful royal complex gave us a fascinating glimpse into the rich history and culture of the Yogyakarta Sultanate. We enjoyed exploring the impressive bathing pools, beautiful gates, old stone structures and the famous underground passages. The unique combination of Javanese and European architectural influences makes Taman Sari a very interesting place to visit. Walking through the ancient corridors and seeing the remains of this former royal retreat really made us appreciate how grand the complex must have been centuries ago. A memorable and culturally enriching stop during our Yogyakarta trip. Highly recommended for anyone interested in history, architecture and Javanese heritage. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
View on GoogleA must-visit historical site in Yogyakarta, also known as the Water Castle. We visited around 1pm and the place was packed with locals. It was an incredibly hot day, but the bright sun made the photos look amazing! Inside, you'll find several guides; some will offer to take your pictures or lead you to the underground path to mosque. We actually decided to explore the neglected side of the castle on our own instead. It was quite an interesting experience but if you are on a tight schedule, just stick to the main water castle area.
View on GoogleVisited Taman Sari and even without taking a guided tour, it was still a really enjoyable place to explore. This area is known as a historic royal site, and you can feel that atmosphere as you walk through it. The architecture is quite unique, with old structures, pools, and passageways that make it interesting to just wander around and take photos. It is not the kind of place where you need a strict plan, you can just explore at your own pace and still appreciate it. There are guides available if you want a deeper understanding of the history, but even without one, I still found it worth visiting. The surroundings also feel like a living village, so it is not just a tourist spot, you will see local life happening around it as well. Overall, it is a simple but memorable stop in Yogyakarta. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area, especially if you enjoy historical places with a relaxed vibe.
View on GoogleVisited Taman Sari during my trip to Jogja and it was such an interesting historical place to explore. This site used to be the royal garden and bathing complex of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta, and learning about the history made the visit even more memorable. I found it fascinating how the area was once used as a resting place, meditation area, and even a hidden escape route for the royal family. The underground tunnels and old architecture really make you imagine what life was like back then. The place itself is beautiful and full of cultural value. Every corner has its own story, especially the bathing pools which were once reserved for the royal family. It was quite crowded and super hot when I visited, so wearing comfortable clothes and bringing water is definitely a good idea. Overall, I think this is one of the must-visit historical sites in Jogja, especially if you enjoy history, culture, and unique architecture.
