My tour guide recommended this Gudeg place to me. The portion is huge especially the rice. I appreciate how the cow skin isn't super spicy but I wished there more sweetness to it. I visited during off-peak hour so I was the only one. But I had wish the staff had been more welcoming.

Gudeg Djoyo is more than a restaurant; it’s a journey into the heart of Yogyakarta’s culinary heritage. Named after the iconic Javanese dish, Gudeg, this establishment has carved its place as a connoisseur of authentic flavors and cultural richness. The signature Gudeg here is a testament to tradition — a slow-cooked masterpiece that captures the essence of Yogyakarta’s culinary identity. The sweet, savory, and aromatic notes dance on the taste buds, creating a symphony that reflects the region’s culinary heritage. Beyond the flavors, the ambiance of Gudeg Djoyo complements the culinary experience. The rustic charm of the decor, coupled with warm hospitality, transports diners to a setting that feels like a traditional Javanese home. Gudeg Djoyo is not just a place to eat; it’s a cultural exploration, an immersion into the soul of Yogyakarta’s gastronomic history. Whether you’re a local seeking a taste of nostalgia or a traveler eager to embrace authentic Indonesian cuisine, Gudeg Djoyo is a must-visit destination on your culinary map.

Good restaurant,. The menu is quite varied. The place is really comfortable, clean, and spacious. If you want to know the taste, In my opinion, the taste just ordinary. But, for the cost, is affordable. The thing that makes this restaurant special is open for 24 hours. The parking area is near the road, so be careful when you want to park your vehicle.

For me, they are totally overrated and overpriced gudeg meals. They sells an average gudeg, with a chunk of chicken's meat are not fully marinated.
