A super popular bakmi spot — expect a long line. Funny enough, it’s located right across from a cemetery, but since the place is always packed, it doesn’t feel spooky at all. The interior has a lot of wooden elements, giving it a rustic, old-school vibe. If you’re lining up on the right side, you can actually watch the cooks preparing the food, which makes the wait a bit more fun. The bakmi is really tasty — you can clearly taste the rich seasoning and the kampung chicken. But honestly, the fried rice kinda stole the show. It’s smoky, flavorful, with sliced chilies that make it even better. Or maybe it just tasted extra good because we were starving after the long wait. Either way, the place is seriously busy all the time — definitely a spot people come for.
View on GoogleTried bakmi jawa rebus, and nasi goreng. Bakmi jawa: Love the chicken broth flavour and not feel too salty, which makes it special. Nasi goreng is sweet aand smokey, also suitable for kids. Jahe is strong and sweet (best). Parking lot is a lot and there are also another lot which is only 1 min walking distance.
View on GoogleWas looking for an authentic local restaurant and Gito was suggested by two different chatbots. Rather large space with lots of seating, and there was a constant flow of people. This place sure is popular! Menu is an order pad in Indonesian. Just take a photo and let your favorite chatbot decipher and suggest, as well as help you fill out the form. Got some noodles and veggies, and it was delicious. Very flavorful. It came with some pickled cucumbers and small peppers. I tried one of the peppers and instantly regretted it. lol. Very hot, but thankfully didn’t linger past a few minutes. Eat at your own risk. Definitely recommend and would return.
View on GoogleA bit pricey for Yogyakarta compared to other Bakmie Djowo places. I tried the fried and soup versions, and I needed to adjust a bit. Nevertheless, the place is awesome; I love the ambiance. Update: I tried Ayam Rica-Rica, and surprisingly, it was delicious. It combines chicken wings, necks, and thighs, and the best part is that you can adjust the spiciness level.
View on GoogleThe noodles were great, and the ambiance was amazing. You should try both the soup and the dry noodles, as they each have their own charm and both are delicious. They serve you green chilies for free, but you can ask for orange chilies for an extra charge. It can get pretty crowded because it's so famous, but the turnover is pretty quick.
