This was our final stop after exploring Between Two Gates and getting overheated. The art café spans two buildings facing each other. The first mainly uses its spacious terrace for the cashier area and even has a clean outdoor toilet, while the building across holds most of the seating. Inside, different rooms serve different purposes: one for seating, one set up as a small library and painting space, which leads to a backyard garden. The whole place is filled with artistic touches, making it a lovely spot to slow down, cool off, and recharge for a bit.
View on GoogleSuch a lovely local place. Right in the middle of between two gates. Soup and snacks and a delicious iced latte. The service was wonderful, and I was able to ask for no MSG. This is a definite must stop if you are visiting between two gates. They have a lovely tea selection and wonderful coffee. So even if you're not hungry, stop by for that.
View on GoogleIt is a hidden gem inside Between Two Gates. The ambiance is very tranquil, despite the weather feeling hot. If you like a serene and calm café, I do recommend this one and it has lots of books which are available to read on-site! I would rate it 3.5/5 I ordered iced matcha.. for 31k it was meh.. nothing too special.. but not blaming it 🤷🏻♀️ Also, it’s kinda hard if you bring vehicles bcs you have to park outside.
View on GoogleI absolutely loved my time at Longkang. The location is calm and peaceful—tucked away from the noise, with just the right touch of background music that doesn’t overpower your convo. There are two seating areas, and I chose the one near the bookshelf, which gave it a cozy and homely vibe. I stayed for quite a while and was even accompanied by Mas Boy, the resident cat—so friendly, adorable, and photogenic of course! The food is an interesting twist on Indonesian comfort dishes. I had the "nasi kemangi" while my sibling ordered "nasi gila". Unlike typical Jogja meals that lean sweet, the flavors here are more on the salty-savory side, but still very balanced. If you're into spicy food, it might not be hot enough, but I suspect they’re adjusting to local preferences. You might ask them to set your food on "super spicy". As for getting there, the location on Google Maps is accurate. However, the owner intentionally didn’t put up signage—so you’ll probably need to ask around, which actually encourages interaction with the locals (which I loved!). Definitely a place I’d recommend for a quiet escape, good food, books, and cat cuddles.
View on GoogleLongkang offers the typical Jogja's vintage ambiance, a shade during the hot days plus simple food. After walking around Kotagede during a hot sunny day, I found Longkang is the perfect place to cool myself. There was a 'living room' adjacent to the green garden where I sat in while enjoying iced chocolate and cireng.
