It may not look like much but the simply presented food is genuinely tasty and flavorful (some dishes are cooked on coals). It is a mix of local food with Chinese influences. Chili crab, while messy, was very well seasoned, and even broccoli in sauce was very tasty. The noodles with seafood are also recommended. The shrimps were cut before cooking, and were hard to peel despite nice sweet and sour sauce.
View on GoogleHalal Chinese food with a focus on hot plates, angsio and seafood. It's quite pricey when compared with other similar Chinese food places here in Jogja. But their portions are huge, that's where the value lies. Bring a lot of people with you, as one portion of anything can feed at least two people. I got the seafood hotplate today, as I came alone, but another one of their specialties is the Juan Loo / Steamboat. I'd give a 4/5 for the overall taste, but I think what makes it worth it is the historic value & old style cooking. Also really happy to see the staff being young & energetic, all of them seem to enjoy the job.
View on GoogleIn 2001 we were there with our 2 children. Stayed in the Phoenix hotel nearby. As we passed by it looked so good! Several times we had dinner there! Now in 2024 (23 years later) the place looks exactly the same and the food is just as amazing as then. Also this year we had dinner more then once while we stayed at Alamanda Villa’s in Sleman. Don’t look at the interior, don’t expect super service but GO THERE for an amazing choice on Chinese food. We hope to come back in February 2025.
View on GoogleThe nasi goreng is very nice. Service can be a bit slow, and it can get very stuffy and hot inside...
View on GoogleWhile the location on Sudirman Street might not be the most tranquil, the culinary delights offered at Tio Ciu Seafood Yogyakarta more than make up for it. Dates of visit: 15 June 2023 (with Maga, Mas Ade, Mbak Ully & Wenang) 12 November 2024 (with Maga, Mas Ade, Mbak Ully & Wenang)
