Since childhood in the 90s, I have frequently visited Pempek Kamto, located near Ramai Mall in Malioboro. Even during my college years, I never forgot to take my friends to this place. Over the years, this establishment has undergone a revamp, starting from a very small spot to now having a spacious layout. My favorite item on the menu has always been pempek kapal selam with its white noodle topping, and the pempek lenjer and tekwan are also incredibly delicious. The taste has remained consistent, and they continue to excel. Pempek Kamto holds a special place in my heart, and it's not just about the food. The nostalgic atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the enduring quality of their dishes make it a must-visit spot whenever I'm in the area. It's a slice of my childhood that has grown and evolved, just like the city itself. If you're ever in Malioboro and want to experience a taste of traditional Indonesian flavors with a touch of history, I highly recommend paying a visit to Pempek Kamto. It's a testament to the timelessness of good food and warm hospitality.
View on GoogleNice place to get a standard nice pempek. I personally think their Kapal Selam to thin and fried too dry. Their Lenggang is taste nice and somehow smell like a banana leaf (in a good way). They open until a bit late, so it is a good fit for night snack but be aware as they may have a limited menu
View on GoogleA good place to have local food. Price is very affordable and the dishes taste good. Very advisable if you want to try original dishes.
View on GoogleThe pempeks are good, boring as their own, but once the sauce hits the note, the combination is one of the kind. The mee celup, too, is quite good on its own. Price is on the more expensive site compared to other establishments, but overall, it is quite affordable. It can get very crowded and the queue will be long during rush hour. Plenty of seats are available. Order at the counter with the pictorial menu for foreigners like us, choose any kind because the food is good.
View on GoogleTheir pempek is really good! Especially if you eat it with the "cuko". Their Mie Celor is also good. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The prices are reasonable.
