TUKU - Kotabaru
Toko Kopi TUKU has been around since 2015 as a local coffee shop that grew big thanks to its Tetangga. We're proud to be the pioneer that popularized the palm sugar milk coffee trend in Indonesia, serving quality coffee.

This has become my regular spot for milk coffee whenever I am in Yogyakarta. The service is fast, and during my visits the baristas were efficient, helpful, and friendly. Even during peak hours when the queue gets long, the process moves fairly quickly, so waiting feels manageable. The café has a vintage feel and feels comfortable for a short stop, both indoors and outdoors. However, it does not provide proper tables since the concept focuses on takeaway. Sitting briefly to chat is possible, but it is not designed for long stays. I ordered the Nabati milk coffee, the combination of coffee, milk, and oat milk feels balanced, the coffee flavor still comes through, the milk adds smoothness, and the oat milk gives a slightly nutty finish without overpowering the drink.
View on GoogleStopped by Tuku and it definitely lives up to its popularity but that also comes with a bit of a trade-off. The place itself is nice and comfortable, with a very lively atmosphere. It’s clearly a favorite spot among younger crowds, so expect it to be very busy. When I visited, I had to wait around 15–20 minutes in a pretty long line. Not the fastest experience, but I do appreciate that they provide free water while you wait small gesture, but it makes a difference. As for the coffee, it’s good and solid, but personally I didn’t find it particularly unique. Because of that, I’m not sure the long wait is always worth it but if you’re curious or it’s your first time, it’s still worth trying at least once. One thing I liked is that they also offer jajanan pasar (traditional snacks) that you can grab and pay for at the cashier, which adds a nice local touch. Parking space is also quite spacious, which is a big plus considering how crowded it gets. Overall, it’s a good experience with a fun vibe. Just come prepared for the queue, and you’ll probably enjoy it more.
View on GoogleToko Kopi Tuku Yogyakarta is more than just a coffee shop—it’s a place where you can experience a little taste of local culture. Set in a beautiful heritage-style house, the atmosphere feels warm, cozy, and full of character. The iconic Kopi Susu Tetangga was smooth, well-balanced, and not overly sweet. What made this branch even more special was the selection of traditional Indonesian snacks available to pair with your coffee. It adds a nostalgic touch and makes the whole experience feel uniquely Javanese. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick coffee or taking your time to enjoy the ambiance, Tuku Yogyakarta is definitely worth a visit.
View on GoogleTUKU Kotabaru is hands down one of the best and most popular coffee shops in Yogyakarta. The coffee is consistently delicious, and even when there's a long queue, people are happy to wait because it's absolutely worth it. The location is very strategic and easy to reach, while the seating area is cozy and comfortable for enjoying your drink. They also provide clean restrooms and a prayer room (musholla), making the experience even more convenient. If you're a coffee lover visiting Jogja, this place is definitely a must-visit! ☕⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
View on GoogleTuku Coffee Shop: I really love the coffee served at Tuku, especially their most iconic variety is KST. I had tried it before at one of their locations in Jakarta, but when I tried it again at the Yogyakarta branch, I found the coffee there to be much more delicious and bold—though I’m not sure why. The service was also excellent. Once, when I visited at noon and there was a long line stretching all the way outside, a security guard handed out cold water to every customer and when we waited, they provided umbrellas for those exposed to the heat. The baristas and other staff were very friendly; on one occasion I visited with a friend and we were given a free drink from the new menu to try—we were very pleased with their service.
