Wow, nice Ayam Goreng in Yogyakarta area, the legend and must try while you are in town. Always busy, but worth to try, very juicy and delicious. Love their sambal also.
View on GoogleTried out this popular when we arrived in Yogya for a late lunch. Since it was on a Sunday, the restaurant was packed & we have to wait around 15 minutes to get a table which is actually not bad. While waiting, the staff asked us to put in our order first to avoid waiting when we got our table. So, we got the fried chicken, fried duck, fried cow’s lungs, fried eggplant, and rice. Unfortunately they ran out tempe & tofu at that time. All the food came with a side of sambal. Overall the food tasted great, it was well seasoned and fried to perfection. The chicken & duck were crispy on the outside and still juicy in the inside. For the drink, definitely gotta get their sweet iced tea. The tea is fragrant and intense, yet it’s not overly sweet. Apart from that, once we got our table, the food & drinks were served quite fast. And the staff were helpful. Definitely will come back for more when we’re in town.
View on GoogleTojoyo 3 Jogjakarta February 2026 Fried chicken for 24 K, chicken head for 4 K, cow lungs for 24 K, and (the best thing far in the background) cow tongue for 28 K IDR Goshdarn one just wasn't prepared to experience just how good a "traditional" / "yellow" Indonesian fried chicken could taste. I might be wrong, but i think the spice mix they are using is much closer to Indian curry powder than the usual tumeric based Indonesian variety. The fragrance really hits you ever so pleasantly. The cow lungs are also top tier, so is the 33 K IDR duck breast. Everything is fried perfectly yet still tender and juicy. Even the two types of sambal is top notch. What really takes the cake for me is the cow tongue tho... they really pressure cooked it to melt in your mouth. I love tongue and this really is the most tender one i have ever had. One does initially hope that they would have infused more flavour into the tongue, but i guess they wanted the melt in your mouth feel take center stage. All in all, i think this should really make anyone's must visit roster when journeying to Jogjakarta. #greatfood #in #Jogjakarta #Indonesia #friedchicken
View on GoogleReview: Ayam Goreng Toh Joyo 3 – Jl. Uripsomoharjo 133, Yogyakarta Ayam Goreng Toh Joyo 3 is a legendary fried chicken spot in Yogyakarta, established in 1983. Conveniently located on Jl. Uripsomoharjo 133, it’s easy to find thanks to its roadside location and spacious building. The setting is simple, with plenty of wooden tables and benches that can accommodate large groups—perfect for family meals or gatherings. One unique feature is the open kitchen placed at the front of the restaurant, allowing guests to see the cooking process without being bothered by smoke while eating. Specializing in kampung-style (free-range) fried chicken, this place is known for its fast service and friendly staff. Orders arrive at the table quickly, so there’s no long wait. The fried chicken is delightfully savory and salty, yet tender and juicy. The marinade is deeply infused, reaching all the way into the meat, creating a rich and authentic flavor. The dish is complemented by fresh raw vegetables (lalapan) and a sweet-and-spicy soy-based sambal that hits just the right level of heat. The rice portion is just right—not too much, not too little—and perfectly fluffy, pairing wonderfully with the tasty chicken. Conclusion: Ayam Goreng Toh Joyo 3 is a must-try for fried chicken lovers visiting Yogyakarta. With its rich flavor and homey atmosphere, it stands out as one of the best kampung-style fried chicken spots in town.
View on GoogleTheir ayam goreng was great. Comes with a great sambel as well. It was a bit hot for dining in. So I think it’s better to take away their food.
