Mahkota Chinese Restaurant has a nostalgic feel, and the dishes lean distinctly Indonesian in a way that makes the meal interesting. The Mie Kakap stood out most for me, though the noodle texture was a bit unusual and not something I fully warmed to. I also liked the fried rice with ham and the Bakso Ikan Kakap, which were the safer choices of the meal.
View on GoogleThis Chinese restaurant is truly legendary! 🍜 The food is consistently amazing—my parents have been bringing me here since I was a kid! The service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is always so inviting. I highly recommend it! 💯😋 Pro tip: Don’t forget to try their signature Mie goreng kakap! It’s an absolute must.
View on GoogleMahkota (Tiongsan) in Yogyakarta is a classic old-school restaurant that has been serving Chinese food since 1937. You can feel its long history through the taste of the dishes, making it a unique place to visit. Some must-try dishes include the signature fish-flavoured thick noodles, which are rich and comforting, the tasty crab soup, and the pork belly sautéed in soy sauce that is well-cooked and flavorful. The assorted kekian vegetable dish is also a great choice and adds balance to the meal. Overall, the menu is well-prepared and offers a satisfying experience, especially for Chinese food lovers. The service was good, and the staff were helpful and attentive. Parking can be a bit challenging, as space is limited and you may need to park on the street. Still, it’s a memorable place with authentic flavors and a strong heritage, definitely worth a visit.
View on GoogleThe food was average for us. We asked for spicy dishes, but they didn't taste spicy at all and were quite plain. However, the staff were really friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which we truly appreciated. Service was the highlight of our visit.🤍
View on GoogleNostalgic Chinese food that’s distinctly Indonesian especially the Mie Kakap. The noodle texture is rather unusual so we remain undecided if it’s something that appeals to us. Must order Fried Rice with Ham and Bakso Ikan Kakap. Both dishes are delicious. The Fried Pork with Flour is okay but not outstanding. Too lean for our taste but the pork goes well with the house chilli and cucumber pickles. Setting is retro, reminiscent of the 1970s; almost spartan yet its vintage charm is bound to evoke nostalgia among older folks. Service is friendly and attentive though so this place is worth a visit.
