Ok so your in Jogakarta you need to try the local foods. This restaurant is apparently the best for Gudeg in town. It's a great way to experience the local vibe. There is an English speaker here who can explain the menu to you. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming.
View on GoogleThe taste of food is as usual, authentic, with vibes Yogyakarta traditional. No air conditioning, no seating arrangements, and food will serve based on set menu you've chosen. Enjoy it 🤩
View on GoogleGudeg Yu Djum is a legendary spot in Yogyakarta and truly lives up to its reputation. The gudeg is rich and flavorful, with perfectly cooked jackfruit that’s sweet, tender, and well-seasoned. The dish is even better with krecek that’s savory and slightly spicy, plus tender chicken and eggs that absorb the spices beautifully. Everything feels authentic and comforting, just like classic Jogja cuisine. If you’re visiting Yogyakarta specially in Malioboro street, Gudeg Yu Djum is a must-try for an authentic local food experience. Highly recommended!
View on GoogleThis restaurant is a chain that specialises in the iconic Yogyakarta cuisine called Gudeg. Gudeg is generally composed of stewed eggs, tempeh, rehydrated beef skin, and chicken depending on your choice of toppings. However, when we arrived here (this was before dinner time), they were out of almost everything on their menu, so we had to order the shredded chicken menu. The overall flavour was good, but the portion was disproportionately small. I don't feel like I received good value for the amount that I paid for. The atmosphere was hot and humid, the floors were dirty, and the service was quite inattentive. I can understand the place being open to the outdoors hence the hotness, but the air circulation inside wasn't good either so it made the heat worse. I don't think I had a great experience eating here, so I don't recommend eating at their Malioboro branch. Maybe other spots are better. ⭐ 3/10 For more food reviews of restaurants all over the world, follow @allyeatsfood on Instagram! ❤️
View on GoogleThe taste of the gudeg is actually good, but I tried the duck and it was too rubbery and quite hard to chew. This branch itself feels a bit uncomfortable, the place is small and not very clean. Another thing that really bothered us is that many singers kept coming inside asking for money, which made it hard to enjoy the meal. The prices are also a little too high compared to what you get. But overall, if you’re looking to try authentic gudeg, it’s still worth the experience.
