This local chicken satay shop has one of the highest google reviews nearest to our hotel and it did not disappoint. Sells only chicken satay ( various parts of chicken available on menu). The meat is lean yet juicy and drenched in sweet bbq sauce. Their peanut sauce is one of the Best I've had, savory and thick with grounded peanuts. This place remains one of local favorites. Definitely is a must eat place in the town of jogjakarta.
View on GoogleHis father started the business by carrying a shoulder pole to make satay in 1959 until 1975 permanently establishing his restaurant in the current location and currently his son now continuing his legacy. The satay using the native free ranch chicken (ayam kampung) which more little chewy but with alot more flavors than the boiler (GMO) chicken which smell like medicine in my taste buds. The peanut souce is fine grind and complimented with darked chilli paste and pickles shallots.
View on Googlethey sell chicken satay here. you can choose the sauce between peanut sauce, or sweet soy sauce. it can be served with rice, or lontong. for me, the peanut sauce is good. it has the balance between the sweetness, and savory. i don't really like the meat though. the meat is too small compared to many chicken satay in indonesia. the meat is not tender either. it's chewy. the texture is like gizzard, but it's actually meat. it should be tender.
View on GoogleOne of the oldest satay vendor in Yogyakarta. The service are always warm and friendly since long time ago, typical central Javanese politeness. Unfortunately the quality of their satay seems a little bit decreased. Some pieces were dry and tough while the others were not. Maybe I got some leftover pieces from previous day. Regarding the taste it doesn't change much. The price are affordable. The dining area are always clean and tidy, but I think they should maintain more cleanliness on grilling area. If you are sensitive with smoke, it is better if you order it for take away. The peanut sauce remains tasty as it is, the lontong and other condiments like sliced shallots, lime and chillies are always generous too. 2 January 2024, R&D.
View on GoogleIt is one of the oldest satay restaurants in Jogja. They use native chicken or Ayam Kampung. Reasonable price for its portion and taste (yummy). Car parking is quite difficult (street park) because it's located in a busy area (near Malioboro) and traffic jam.
